Football Academy News

Some of the boys from our U9 and U7 teams have experienced issues with behavior management, concentration and learning, causing them to have a negative influence on their teammates. The children also struggle in the classroom and are often in trouble with their teachers. We are working closely with their parents to turn their behaviour and attitudes around to the benefit of them and the whole team.

Changing behaviour takes time, but the results so far have been encouraging. One of the boys has been invited to train with Arsenal FC, so we’ll share our work with the club so they can continue the positive work we’ve been doing in Football Academy.

Recent highlights:

  • Our new U6 team is up and running and playing well after a year competing in the U7 league at Regents Park. They have two exciting matches coming up against semi-pro club Wealdstone FC and Premier League Arsenal FC.
  • One of our U7 players is currently with Chelsea’s elite group at Cobham (Chelsea’s main training complex).
  • Our U9 team racked up an 18-0 win over the Regents Park Rebels, which is the biggest win in RPT FC history!
  • We have been selected as the Marks and Spencer’s (Marble Arch branch) Charity of the Year – we are looking forward to working with them in 2020 to raise funds for the Football Academy.

Looking ahead:

  • We are preparing our U7 team to take part in a mini-tour of Northern England in April 2020; we are arranging matches against Crew FC, Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC.
  • We are looking to recruit a new coach to add to our growing Academy. If you know someone with passion and commitment for both football and the development of children and young people, get in touch!
