RPT Football Academy update

RPT FC's last season finished at the end of July with our annual football awards presentation. Organised with the help of our football parents, we celebrated with individual awards, food and a disco for the children.

New beginnings

The new season started with eight teams competing in the Camden and Regent’s Park Football League on Saturday mornings—meaning that we have a record 80 players playing regular competitive football. Plus, our Thursday football session also welcomed a new intake of reception-aged children.

Fast-forward to just one month into our current season and two of our players were scouted and called in for trials with Crystal Palace FC and Southampton FC!

However, as always, the biggest highlight has been seeing our U6 team play their first competitive match at Regent’s Park. We were not sure who was more excited: the players or parents! We have also started our first girls-only football session as part of the RPT FC Academy.

Forward plans…

We are now planning our next football tour for the Easter holidays 2019. After the success of the Holland 2018 tour, we hope to take up to 20 children to France to play against professional and amateur teams. This will also give them the chance to experience a new culture and visit historic sites.

All this expansion, however, is not without its challenges. Professional football coaches, both male and female, continue to be hard to find, as are good football venues with available slots.
