Football Academy Updates

RPT football club players have taken part in competitive football tournaments across Middlesex over the last few months. The results have been impressive and our 60 players have recorded more wins than ever before.

In April RPT took 18 boys from our Football Academy to Amsterdam for their first overseas football tour. The boys had a tremendous four days, showing maturity, enthusiasm and determination both to perform well and represent their club in the best way possible. We’re very proud of what the boys achieved on and off the pitch and are very grateful to our donors who made this experience possible.

After seeing the incredible impact this trip has had on the group, we’re already looking into taking another group abroad next year. In May, our teams were invited to Tottenham Hotspur FC’s new training complex for matches against their youth teams. May also saw several RPT players being signed up to junior teams at Spurs, Luton Town and Watford. In June, our under eleven team played against Queens Park Rangers FC at their Academy and beat local rivals Westway Sports Centre in the semi-finals of the Sandgate tournament.

Fast Forward

We have been holding parents’ meetings to tell them about our plans for the new season. This will see the creation of two new teams who will compete at Regents Park.

We are also hoping to create some pitch space for regular training sessions for all our teams and to start a girls’ football session. We are working with the Middlesex FA to meet the criteria for accreditation as a ‘football development centre’. We aim to complete this by the end of the 2018/19 season.

About RPT FC

For those who don’t know, RPT has always had a huge tradition of developing football teams from the local community and have over the years produced footballers who have gone to play at professional level most notably Les Ferdinand (QPR, Tottenham, Newcastle) and Dennis Wise (Wimbledon and Chelsea). Nowadays we have up to 100 children from the ages 4-12 in the training programme who train between 2-3 times per week and then play competitively each week.
