For many years now we have been running three annual events: The RPT Christmas Fair, The RPT Brain Game and entering our runners in the London Marathon. For all of these three events we are extremely reliant on the goodwill and support of local people. In particular The RPT thanks the long-standing fundraising committee which has been working together for over a decade raising money for The Trust. The committee plans a Christmas Fair every year in November which regularly raises over £20,000 for The Trust. The RPT has also been running Brain Games for the last ten years. These are held every May in the Walmer Road Centre, raising between £10,000 and £15,000 a year. Finally, we always have five places for runners in the London Marathon and each person is expected to raise £1,000. In 2007 & 2009 we took over The Holland Park Opera in Holland Park charity performance. Thanks to a wonderful committee we manage to sell about 1,000 tickets raising about £80,000 for the work of The RPT. We are particularly grateful to our sponsors for this event – Jo and Christopher Holdsworth Hunt, Rory and Elizabeth Brooks, John Sunley and Aylesfords Residential. Fundraising
We are heavily dependent on the incredible generosity of our Major Donors and the Charitable Trusts that support us. A number of our activities would not survive without your support. We always encourage our donors to sign Gift Aid forms if they can, which means that we can claim the tax already paid on the donation back from the Inland Revenue. In this way, every £100 given can be worth up to £128 to us – that’s nearly a third more at no extra cost to the donor. The RPT would like to thank all our wonderful supporters and volunteers for all they do for us. Of course we would be delighted if you or your company would like to organise your own fundraising event for The Rugby Portobello Trust.
